Leadership 21 Focusing on Youth - Class of 2017 to benefit local foster families

Posted on: August 9, 2017

The Leadership 21 Class of 2017 is partnering with MetroParks of Butler County to host a picnic for local foster families affiliated with Focus on Youth.

On Monday, August 14th, the Leadership 21 class will be hosting foster families at MetroParks’ Voice of America Ronald Reagan Lodge.  In addition to the picnic, the Leadership 21 class will be distributing school supplies to families.

“Our goal is to provide a wholesome environment where local foster families can create a good memory,” said Michael McNamara, Leadership 21 class member and Executive Director of Butler County’s Port Authority.

The Leadership class has been collecting school supplies for the foster youth and will distribute book bags of basic supplies to the families.  MetroParks of Butler County is co-sponsoring the event and has contributed not only the space at Voice of America but also some supplies for the backpacks.

“We want to make sure that these students start the year off right with new school supplies and hopefully a new friend,” said Erin Clemons, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty and another Leadership class member.

The afternoon promises to be a memorable experienced for both the volunteers and foster families. "Focus on Youth is grateful for the incredible partnership of the Leadership 21 group in putting together this amazing Back 2 School Bash for our foster families and the children in foster care we serve,” said Bryan Forney, Executive Director of Focus on Youth. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our children and families to experience the support of the surrounding community, and we are so grateful for how our friends with Leadership 21 came together to put this fun and exciting event together."
